How to fit Art into a Student-Sized Budget
The client __ Creneau is an interior design and branding agency known for its strong focus on hospitality, strategy, and concepts that work in the real world. With a proven track record in franchising, Creneau has built a reputation for creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional and commercially successful. Their expertise lies in bringing innovative ideas to life in a way that resonates with the end user.For this project, Creneau approached BuroMuro to collaborate on a large-scale initiative: designing custom artwork for 162 student rooms. Their goal was to elevate the visual experience of each room, while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic that aligned with the overall branding and design of the space.
The challenge __ The main challenge was to create artwork that would enhance the student living experience and resonate with young residents, while fitting within the functional and budgetary constraints of a large-scale project. The artwork needed to be visually impactful yet practical for mass application across 162 rooms. Additionally, the work had to reflect Creneau's high standards for quality and design, and seamlessly integrate with the interior concept they had developed for the project.
Out Approach __ To meet this challenge, we collaborated with one of our talented artists, Amber Gyselings, to create custom artwork specifically tailored to this project. Amber’s pieces were designed with the student demographic in mind, combining vibrant colors and dynamic patterns to energize and personalize each room.
Once the artwork was finalized, we printed the pieces and used wallpaper paste to apply them directly to the walls of each student room. This approach was both cost-effective and visually striking, transforming each space while staying true to the project's practical requirements. By working closely with Creneau, we ensured that the final product not only met their design expectations but also brought a unique artistic touch to the student housing.
The result __
The result was a vibrant and cohesive design that transformed the student rooms into spaces filled with personality and life. The custom artwork created a unique identity for each room, giving students an inspiring environment that reflected the modern, youthful energy of the project. The collaboration with Creneau allowed us to showcase the power of art in large-scale, functional design projects.
