Charlotte Declercq
Charlotte Declercq (1989) is a multidisciplinary designer, based in Belgium. She finds her inspiration in places, more southern countries probably. but also her daily surroundings. Oh, and history. She describes her work as refined sensuality, and primitive-ish. Yet minimal and abstract. She think speaking to all our senses is important. For example, colors are not just colors, they are moods. They give you feelings and states of mind. For this collection she found inspiration in the Venus-figurines.These remaining artefacts of our ancestors are so interesting. They were made for good luck during labor or as fertility totems. Charlotte thinks the effects of the passing of time and weathering processes are interesting on them, because we see them in altered manners. She wanted to portray this on a flat surface.
